I am fairly certain that an expansion to a game would need to pertain to the game itself instead of being considered a proper standalone sequel. ALL of which needs to be actively and openly asked of and thoroughly understood if we all want this game to not just continue, but to actually grow.Īfter I look through the forums some more, since I've been out of the loop of the game for some years, I may open a thread to spark some debate/ideas. Knights of Spiral, or Spiral Knights:Recharged.Īll of my idea storming aside, it really comes down to what the current overseers are both capable, and willing to consider, and whether or not the legal controls are in us the fans favor or not. Instead of Spiral Knights 2, perhaps it could simply be dubbed a new version. Kind of like sticking a brand new computer system in modern cars in to one of those antique cars you have to wind a crank wheel around the back just to get the engine started up. Mere fundamental Redesigns, rather than trying to make a shiny new piece of machinery mesh and function in an otherwise rusty and essentially alien construct. The best of which are usually only ever available once in a blue moon, while the rest is just out of reach enough that mostīack on subject, I have seen several games in the past even before playing spiral knights whos sequals weren't so much continuations, but reboots. Prize boxes, slightly altered equipment, and cosmetics, level designs and minor variations between new and old enemies/mechanics. Right now the games content is locked in a closed cycle of renamed, retextured, and/or reused ideas. Spiral Knights can now be played on the free-to-play section on Steam. Now making a Spiral knights 2 wouldn't neccessarily be a sequal, but maybe an overhaul of sorts. Spiral Knights is unique because it aims to marry the mechanics of a free-to-play MMO with the sensibilities of retro gaming, being played from a third-person perspective and adopting an art style that draws inspiration from a number of classics like The Legend of Zelda titles. It includes the following: 9,500 worth of Crystal Energy, 5 Mist Tanks, 10 Krogmo Coins, 1 unspecified commemorative artifact, 5 Krogmo Coin Boosters and two pieces of costume, Plasmatech Bombhead Mask and the Plasmatech Demo Suit. In order to celebrate the launch of the new players versus player mechanics, the developers are also introducing a new package that can be bought for real-world money. SEGA and the developers at Three Rings are also saying that all those who compete in player versus player competitions will get the new Spiral Bombhead Mask as a reward for completing their first battle with another gamer. Those coins can then be used to get access to a number of special in-game items that can enhance the experience of playing Spiral Knights. Here the monsters always stay high up in the stands while the players themselves enter the arena and fight each other, with the victors set to get gold coins from the King Krogmo himself. The fiction of Spiral Knights says that the Coliseum was originally created in order to allow the monsters of the game world to take a break from their hard work of providing tough challenges for gamers. The players versus player battles will take place in the coliseum that a new character called King Krogmo maintains. Video game publisher SEGA has announced that a new game mode has been added to the multiplayer mix between action and role-playing game, allowing players to go up against each other in a series of exciting duels.
